Have you noticed something different at the pep rallies?

On May 1st at our blackout pep rally Coyotes were introduced to ‘The Pack’.

This is a step team where groups of people come together and create music by stomping and clapping.

In late April step team flyers were put up in the hallways to recruit students.

Many teachers said they loved the idea of a step team.

“I know their energetic and something about the stomping of the feet and the clapping of the hands to unison and different formations, it just wakes everybody up,” said Mary Gurn, sponsor of step team.

“At a high school I did work with they [had] a step team and I loved it cause it just brought diversity and it just brought a different style of dance to the school,” said Whitney Becker,  Science Teacher

They also perform outside our school such as at Roach Middle School.

Team captain Janae Blocker hopes to teach young ladies self worth and to raise up a generation with pride in being on the Pack.

“I just want everybody to be successful in stepping and I want everybody to treat the step team how they treat the Highsteppers or the cheerleaders,” said Blocker

Blocker said that she believes it is time for something new in Frisco.
