Khalyn Williams and her teammates are getting ready for the new season with a new coach.

On Tuesday mornings you’ll see band practicing in the parking lot.

But they are not the only ones. Color guard is out there working just as hard.

“It might seem hard ‘cause you know you’re marching in the heat the whole time, the whole summer. But when you get use to it, it’s actually pretty fun,” Lashayla Bryant said.

Most girls that are in color guard say that it is a really good experience.

“It’s really fun and social and you meet a lot of cool people,” Victoria Payne said.

Color guard also brings on a lot of responsibilities not just for the coach but also for the team captain.

“As the captain of color guard, my biggest responsibility is to make sure that all the girls are here on time, are doing the work they need to be doing, practicing at home and…just keeping everyone in line, in a sense,” Bethany Wineblood said.

Since the team has had a different coach every year there is always something new to expect.

“ It’s a first time we’ve ever had a female coach, ever at this school. She brought a different aspect and there’s more dance in our show instead of just work,” Wineblood said.

Expect something new from this year’s color guard and remember to look for them out on the field.
