Clubs offer benefits to students
Want to make new friends?
Consider joining one of the many clubs offered to students at Heritage.
“I know the kids have other interests, and it’s good to find other students on campus that share your interests and find time to do activities and other things,” said Assistant Principal Brent Benningfield.
By joining a club, you get to be a part of something with other people who share your interests.
Whether you are interested in art, film, books, or chess, there is a club out there just for you.
“You get to do the things you really enjoy,” junior Adeline Cho said.
Colleges like the University of Texas at Austin prefer to accept students that are actively involved in their school through clubs or other extra curricular activities.
“If you happen to be elected to one of the officer positions, you can put that on your college resume,” said Librarian Kim Vincent.
In addition to showing involvement in your school, joining a club also gives students a sense of responsibility.
“It’s just a nice leadership thing to have,” Vincent said.
To get a list of available clubs to join stop by the office in A109.
If you don’t find any clubs that interest you, take the opportunity to be a leader and start a club of your own.
You can talk to Mr. Benningfield in A114 to get your club started.
After filling out the required paperwork, you will need to find a teacher that is interested in sponsoring your club.
Once your club gets approved you can plan when and where your club will be meet and begin making friends that share your interests.
