Students say Mr. Shaskan has an interesting sense of humor.

These last months of school English I teacher Atticus Shaskan finished out his first year teaching by being named the May-June Teacher of the Month.

“Well I never really tried to be teacher of the month, in fact I was totally surprised when I got it. Really I just tried to be the best teacher that I can be constantly,” said Shaskan.

Students couldn’t stop talking about him, from his unusual attire to his cat.

“I like the way Mr. Shaskan dresses, it’s interesting and it’s not usual. I like not usual,” said freshman Matthew Merrill.

“My kids seem to love my cat Rififi, they’re constantly talking about her,” said Shaskan.

Teaching English is something Shaskan said he loves. His passion for books and anything related made him interested in teaching English.

“I love to read, I love to discuss literature and so it was kind of a natural fit really. What I like most of all is to get students passionate about reading,” said Shaskan.

Humbled by his prize, Shaskan credits his success to his coworkers.

“Any success that I’ve had in the classroom really is thanks to my time talking to other teachers and watching other teachers,” said Shaskan.

Students feel he has definitely earned his spot as the last Teacher of the Month.
