Painting the road to success
Every month one lucky Coyote is hand selected to be the Coyote Artist of the Month.
Julia Sunderman was chosen as the Coyote Artist of the Month for December.
Her artwork was displayed in the front office, art hallway, and outside of the library.
The time and dedication she put into her artwork is what captured the judges’ eyes and made her stand out from the other students.
“A lot of her artwork stands out because it’s so colorful and bright and you can really see those expressive qualities in her brush strokes,” said Mrs. Carolyn Funk, an art teacher.
Sunderman’s uniqueness was most noticeable through her artwork.
She was able to achieve such recognition through her inspirations.
“My art teachers have always been an inspiration to me and…I feel like I’ve always thrived in that class and I’d like to inspire others in the same way they’ve inspired me,” Sunderman said.
Mrs. Funk states that Sunderman’s time at home makes a tremendous amount of difference in the program since there are many contestants in the competition.
Sunderman has proven that it takes a lot more than mediocrity to win.
Although her art experience will soon come to an end at Heritage, she plans on attending the University of Texas at Austin to study art so she can one day become an art teacher.
