Track getting the correct form in shape

Laranda Gardenhire, Reporter

Heritage High School track season is almost here and our team has been practicing since the start of the year. They have made a goal to qualify for regionals and have been working hard at practice everyday for over two hours. In the morning, before school starts, they must work hard for something that they really want.

“Sugar. Doing this sport, you have to make sure you keep your body up and not allow too much sugar in your body system when while running,” Kayla Zuniga said.

“In sports now, you can’t just eat what you want anymore because it will affect you when you’re doing the activity, and you can easily lose your breath, get tired or get dizzy. I really liked sleeping in, but I know I have to get up early in the morning at 6:30 am or sometimes just an hour before school,” Muach said.

Track practices start early in the morning with the team on the field every morning running at 7am.

“A major, important thing you have to do while running is make sure that you have the correct form,” Trinity Adams said.

When you are getting prepared to run, you need to have correct form so you can go as fast as possible.

“When getting ready to run, make sure that you have your breathing in check because you need to be breathing through your nose and out your mouth,” Muach said. “It’s good to watch the way that you breathe because, when you don’t do that, you can easily get out of breath and that would be a bad race.”

This year will end well because our track team is ready to make it to districts by working hard and sacrificing something that they all enjoy doing.
