Students are expanding their learning experience by being exposed to all different races and cultural backgrounds in the clasrooms.

Even though we may come from different cultural backgrounds, the mixture of races we have at Heritage has turned us into one family .

Compared to all of the high schools in Frisco, Heritage is one of the most culturally diverse schools.

Being in a diverse school can help you learn about other people’s culture without having to go to a different country.

Some students may not realize that having a mixture of friends can create great opportunities and prepare you for the outside world.

“ Here it’s everyday exposure of the students’ life… all different types of kids and all different types of lives. So it’s helped me grow as a person and as an officer,” Officer Brian Scott said.

According to our school profile Heritage has one percent Native American, 16 percent Asian, 17 percent Hispanic, 20 percent Black, 43 percent White, four percent Mixed race, and .5 percent Pacific Islander.

These encounters could potentially prepare you for the different types of people you will meet in college, the workforce, or maybe even the military.

“We need to learn about each other’s culture and respect it. I think this is one of great ways of learning,” senior Niharika Kuthuru said.

“ I think it’s affected me just to make me a little more aware and take me out of my own personal american bubble,” English teacher Misti Perry said.

Although there are a great amount of advantages, sometimes conflicts can be created due to lack of communication.

“When it does it’s because of misunderstandings either one person is not aware of a cultural expectation and the other one is assuming it should be done,” Perry said.

According to our administration, there are up to 40 different languages spoken here.

“You can learn from other people from other countries, you can make friends in different languages, and you can have classes in different languages,” sophomore Regina Andrews said.

Overall being in a diverse school can give you an inside look on what the future could be like.
