Cheerleaders form a family bond within the squad
Our cheerleaders may just look like an ordinary squad, but with the new bonds that are being created this year, they make a Coyote Pack.
This year, the Varsity Cheerleaders are trying something new within their squad. Getting closer with each other and bonding more than they ever had before.
“We decided to go with the motto, this year, as family, because we really wanted to create a strong bond with the girls and make sure that they know we are in this together, “ said Coach Jessica Seay. “We spend more time with the girls more than our own families. So they are like ours.”
The cheerleaders say they have a special type of friendship when it comes to cheering side-by-side on the sidelines.
“I am proud of being a Heritage cheerleader because every day I get to come and practice with a group of girls and coaches that lift my spirit and make me feel so good of myself,” said Alley Diaz, a varsity cheerleader.
“We are expected to be well behaved and showing all the characteristics of C.L.A.S.S. whether we are in or out of uniform. It’s really important because we are leaders of the school,” said Taylor Brimmer.
Every day the cheerleaders are expected to live by the motto, C.L.A.S.S, which includes character, leadership, accountability, scholastic excellence and service to others, both on and off campus.
“Within our program we do service for others. We do a lot of events for the middle schools and elementary,” Seay said. “They will [also] be doing the Gary Burns Fun Run this year.”
Outside our walls, we see them out in the community.
Inside the walls, we see them getting the student body engaged at pep rallies, helping new students find their way, and supporting their fellow Coyotes at athletic competitions.
“They are the spark of the game,” commented junior Nico Russolillo.
Their bond has transitioned them from a squad to a family.
