The Heritage varsity volleyball team has a reason to play 10 times harder this season.
They started the season with their coach Laura Derdeyn, but she soon took a leave of absence.
“From now on the motivation’s going to be there because we want to play for her to keep going,” said junior, Jocelyn Livingston.
The girls started training in early August and planned on winning every game they could.
Recently the head coach, Laura Derdeyn was ordered to bed rest by her doctor due to her pregnancy.
This has given the girls a reason to work hard and aspire to play to the best of their ability.
“I want us to play the absolute best that we can every single game because we have potential to beat every everybody in the district if we were on our game the entire time so that’s all I really want,” said Livingston.
The varsity team said they see each other more like a family or sisters than just teammates.
“Nothing can break our bond we’re family,” said sophomore Taylor Robinson.
Overall the girls worked hard with Coach Keely Tedder and Coach Jennifer Hansen to have a strong season.
“Playing well, coming into practice, pushing ourselves, high energy that’s what we’re focused on,” said Coach Hanson.
Even though they didn’t win every game this season, the team said they did solidify a bond between each other.
