For the varsity tennis team going to district has been a huge goal to reach.

Most players have been practicing everyday on and off the court to perfect their techniques.

“We have been practicing since before school started and I think that this year will be a really great year for our Heritage varsity team,” said Coach Sylvia Sims.

She believes going to district would be huge. But despite the outcome she will still be proud of her team.

“Out of all the years I have taught tennis I have never had such a hard working group like this one. So matter win or lose I will still be proud of them because I know they have practiced and gone beyond their limits as of this year,” Sims said.

Even though Coach Sims assures her students that she will be happy if they don’t go to district, players like Julia Sunderman feels that they will advance and win this year.

“I think this is the best chance we’ll have at a district championship this season. Our girls’ team is really strong, and we’ve got some really good guys,” Sunderman said.

The players credit their success to their coach and the bonds they have made with each other on and off the court.

“We support each other and so whenever we are on the court, since everybody is so together and bonded we are just routing for everybody,” said senior Tiffany Smith.

Through the strong bond they created, the team went to district and placed in the All-District 9-AAAAA championship.

Congratulations Coyotes!
