Soccer player overcomes a great challenge
Injuries are all apart of the game for many athletes, but it’s all about how you recover from that injury.
Senior captain Dylan Black had first hand experience with a serious sports injury and turned that drastic injury into a serious comeback.
Last soccer season he tore his ACL and throughout the injury and recovery process he found a way to come out on top and inspire his teammates.
Coming back from a serious injury may seem hard at first, but what helped Black was finding a way to stay motivated.
“When it first happened I was pretty down I didn’t really know how I would recover or what my playing career would be after. As I kept on getting better I realized that the injury wouldn’t really affect me as much,” Black said.
His younger brother, Dalton Black, finds motivation in seeing his older brother succeed on the field and has a goal to be as influential as him.
“I really like the way he takes charge of his varsity team. It makes me want to do that for the JV team,” his brother said.
This season the varsity boys have high expectations, with old players gone and new ones coming in to fill their place.
“We’re not going to go out there to fill the team, we’re going to go out there to compete and earn another playoff spot and go back to the playoffs again,” said Coach Adrian Puente.
Black has an extra personal push to strive for greatness because it’s his senior year.
“Just the idea of playing college soccer really kept me going and to have a successful senior year,” said Black.
