New SRO joins the Pack

Tony Shelton speaks with Officer Scott during lunch.

Officer Brian Scott, the new campus student resource officer, has already begun to find his home in the halls of our school.

“I come here, I talk to the kids, I talk to the staff, get a feeling of how things are going, how the day’s gonna be,” said Officer Scott.

But some students still haven’t had the chance to meet him.

While some campus officers can seem intimidating and quiet, Scott is the polar opposite.

He says he loves to interact with students and is not afraid to let loose and have some fun.

“I’m goofy, I’m willing to get down, if it’s dance with the kids at football games, whatever it is, talk to them in the cafeteria, I try to make myself a part of their daily life and a part of the school environment,” Officer Scott said.

Coyotes that have met him say he’s really easy to talk to and he has a unique quality about him that makes him stand out from other SRO officers.

Officer Scott says he is not here to get people in trouble; he’s here to protect the students and staff.

“I want to be a part of the school, I want to be available to help with anything,” said Officer Scott.

He says his door is always open for students to ask him questions or just talk about their day.

“The first time I ever met him he, you know introduced himself. He had a smile on his face” said Chris Baez, a senior.

Officer Scott says he’s willing to chat with students about his interesting life, like how he’s met many people through law enforcement, such as wrestlers and famous DJs.

Make sure to look for him in the halls or cafeteria to get to know him for yourself.
