Mrs. Hollowell named September’s ‘Teacher of the Month’

Students say Mrs. Hollowell makes learning fun by keeping a positive attitude.

Mrs. Hollowell was September’s Teacher of the Month, an award many students overlook each time it comes around.

But what is it about Mrs. Hollowell that makes her stand out?

Hollowell has a passion for teaching and she comes from a long-line of teachers.

As a child she always dreamed of being one.

“It’s just kind of like in our blood I guess,” said Hollowell

She teaches CTE center classes like Fashion Marketing and Entrepreneurship and she is the DECA adviser.

She is also an active member of the Highstepper’s Booster Club and a devoted mother.

Mrs. Hollowell puts forth her all in every aspect of her life, because she says she loves the reward of hard work paying off.

“I love being a Coyote. This is basically home to me and I love all of my co-workers that I work with everyday,” said Hollowell.

Students say they notice the hard work and passion she puts into her teaching.

Coyotes find that she always has a smile on her face even when things get tough.

Many people get stressed out and frustrated when they have a lot on their plate, but Mrs. Hollowell says she loves everything she’s involved in.

“She’s really into what she does,” said Valerie Hernandez the vice president of DECA.

Her previous students still remember her and love to see a past teacher who impacted their life.

Students say when she teaches Mrs. Hollowell genuinely cares for the well-being of the students and makes sure they’re engaged and actually learning from the lesson.

“She has a really good relationship with the kids. She loves working with the kids,” said Hollowell’s daughter, Meghan.

Although Hollowell says she feels she is like any other teacher students say she takes on such a huge load and always keeps a positive, helpful attitude.
