Review of the game Rocket League
February 4, 2020
The game Rocket League has several great traits of what can be considered a fun game, some that might even interest you. The game itself is $20, but with all the content involved, I would say that it is worth much more. The basis is playing as a toy car and a soccer ball. If you’re looking for something ridiculous but interesting, then this could be the game for you. It is multiplayer, so you can play with people online or play with friends. I was playing with my friends yesterday; we were having a blast! It was very competitive but we were still messing around. There is so much customization available for your car, from the field to the team colors. I made my car look like a steampunk car with wheels and everything looks like its from that time. There is also a competitive side to the game ,which even goes as far as going into esports. There are different game modes you can play, some that even change the sport of the game (such as basketball).
Two cons I would have to say about the game is that there is a form of gambling which might not be suitable for some players. The other is that the game might require a lot of resources from a computer, but if you’re playing on any other platform, you won’t really be affected. Steam user by Howden says,“ After 1000 hours in this game, I continue to have the most fun I’ve had in any game in a long time. The concept of Rocket League is simple, yet each time you play it feels like a new experience.” There is a lot of controversy involved with Epic games buying Rocket League. Many people didn’t like this decision because of various reasons. For instance, the user twitler said,“ If you truly cared about all your players, you wouldn’t abandon a large sum of them on two platforms.” This is referring to the loss of support to macOS and Linux. MacOS is a series of graphical operating systems designed by the company Apple. Linux is much similar, with the exception of it being a different company and operating system.
The first time I played, I thought it was going to be great from all the positive reviews I’ve read. I got to the menu and immediately noticed that Rocket League has outstanding graphics and a great number of items to be unlocked from playing. When entering the tutorial, I began to realize that there was a lot of physics involved when it came to even hitting the ball. This made me begin to think that there was a very high skill cap. This experience was from nearly 2 years ago, so there will obviously be changes. I would say I recommend the game to play for the experience and for the fun.
