At the first game of senior Jason Faulkenberry’s last year of football, he dodges players from Lovejoy as he scores at the endzone on Sept.1 at the Ford Stadium. Faulkenberry said football has helped him make friends and build character, even during wins and losses. ”We lost by 16 [points],” Faulkenberry said. “We had a lot of mental errors and mental busts that caused us to lose, but considering it’s the first game I think we did pretty well.”As he grips onto the pants of an opponent senior Derik Stephens tries to prevent Lovejoy from a touchdown. Stephens was encouraged by his coaches who heavily influenced his playing and made him work harder on his skills. “[The highlight] when we played Lovejoy [was when] they tried to throw the ball to the receiver and we intercepted it,” Stephens said.
