Fenty Beauty’s foundations come in a wide range of skin tones and the darker shades are already selling out.

With the approaching holiday season, freshman Elizabeth Castillo hopes to receive cosmetic products from the Fenty Beauty Holiday line in her stocking this year. Fenty Beauty aims to create products to match all skins tones. In a poll conducted on Heritage students, 64 percent reported to struggle to find their correct foundation shade. Enter Rihanna, holder of 14 number one Billboard hits, and now entrepreneur and creator of Fenty Beauty catering to women of a wide range of skin tones.

According to its official website, Fenty Beauty’s Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation comes in a total of 40 shades of complexion. Rihanna, creator of the cosmetics company said she created a shade-inclusive line because she “wanted everyone to feel included,” no matter their race. According to Allure magazine, Rihanna and her team at Kendo Brands created the foundation first because it’s the first makeup product Rihanna fell in love with.

Rihanna said for every product she made, she wanted a color that looked good on all skin tones and representing different shades “was very important to [her].”

Castillo, of Hispanic descent, says “it’s so nice to finally have a foundation that can match my skin tone,” because her foundation used to be too light for her. Now Fenty Beauty “can match [her] Mexican tan.” Though she likes the foundation, Castillo’s says her favorite products are the highlighter and contour duo.

While most of the hype is around the foundation, there are lots of other products such as highlight, contour and the Universal Gloss Bomb which sold out within the month it came out according to the Fenty Beauty website. The foundation also sold out in 13 of the darkest shade within just four days of the release.

According to the Fenty Beauty website, Rihanna’s favorite product is the Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter in the shade “Trophy Wife,” which was also designed to be wearable for all skin types. Castillo says this is also a product she hopes to receive.

Rihanna says, “I only know how to be me, and people thrive when they’re who they’re meant to be. I can only try my best to encourage girls and women to respect their uniqueness and be 100 percent true to themselves.”
