At the Frisco Independent School District Natatorium you can find Swimming Coach John Riley pushing his team to reach their goals for the season.

“Team goals for the year [are] to improve on our team placement from last year for both district and regions and qualify as many kids as we can individually in a couple of relays for the state meet,” Riley said.

To ensure they reach their team goals most members said they try to push far beyond their expectations and set their own personal goals.

“Some of my personal goals for this season is to break the Heritage High School record, which is 312.6, and my latest score was 276.4,” senior diver Chase McKinnie said.

On January 23rd, diver Caeley Black set the school record with 282 points, finishing in second.

Also, divers Johnny Jetton and McKinnie finished both in fourth and fifth place.

“It’s a lot harder than you think it is and you have to be willing to put in a lot of effort to be good,” said junior swimmer Alex Mealing.

Swimming and diving have various differences that set them apart besides the fact that they work out separately.

Even though they are different they said they still come together to reach the same goals.

“I want to get a record on the board,” said Mealing.

Team members believe that if you want to join the team you have to be willing to put in a lot of effort to be good.

If you would like to go support the team at their next meet on Thursday, February 4th at 5:00P.M. at the FISD Natatorium.
