Miguel’s journey

Miguel Garcia drives from Dallas to HHS every morning because of the opportunities available to him.

There are some students who live just across the street and there are some who live across Dallas.

Miguel Garcia finds that a drive from Dallas is nothing but worth it with the opportunities here at Heritage.

“This school gives more opportunities, where I came from they really didn’t have as many opportunities,” Garcia said

Garcia said his strong ambition to become a sports anchor pushes him to work hard each day, in and out of the classroom.

“I think Miguel is a really hard worker. He finishes his projects on time, goes kind of above and beyond what’s expected,” said Mrs. Shannon Hoggatt, his DGA teacher.

“I cannot imagine waking up early enough to drive from Dallas, so that’s really impressive that he is able to get here on time and do his work and get good grades,” Mrs. Rebecca Hill said.

He is not only self motivated, he said that he gets a lot of support from his parents.

“They will support me no matter what I do,” Garcia said.

He said if things don’t go as planned, he will never give up and will always push harder.

“I think with him being a senior coming to Frisco he still has plenty of time to plan out his future and hopefully has even better opportunities now that he is in Frisco,” Hoggatt said.

Garcia said his year has been full of taking risks like switching schools senior year.

Despite the challenges, he has no plans of giving up himself or his future.
