Starting next school year, 10 extra minutes will be added to the school day for all public schools in Frisco ISD. The district school board approved of this decision in a unanimous vote that took place Nov. 12, 2019.

The new school days will go as following.

Elementary School: 7:45 a.m. – 3:05 p.m.

Middle School: 8:25 a.m. – 3:45 p.m.

High School: 9 a.m. – 4:25 p.m.

With this new change being so recent, much information has been left unclear and many questions have risen.

The Frisco ISD website has included information regarding why the change was implemented, what this change in school hours will mean for both students and teachers, as well as answers to the most commonly asked questions.

Some of the reasons provided include a more consistent summer schedule that will begin the weekend before memorial day, adding a triple route schedule for school buses, and allowing more time for “instruction, acceleration, remediation, enrichment and social-emotional learning.” according to the FISD website.
